Don Tracy Issues Statement on Weekend Gun Violence in Chicago

SPRINGFIELD  U.S. Senate candidate Don Tracy today released the following statement in response to yet another tragic wave of gun violence in Chicago over the weekend, which left at least four people dead and 14 others wounded. On Saturday, October 18, a 14-year-old boy was shot and injured downtown. Sunday morning, October 19, a 40-year-old woman was shot and killed while getting off a bus in the Fuller Park neighborhood.

These incidents highlight ongoing challenges with violent crime in Illinois' largest metropolitan area and underscore the need for stronger support for local law enforcement, including better cooperation with federal agencies.

“Another weekend in Chicago ended in tragedy with four people killed, fourteen more wounded, and even a 14-year-old boy shot in the heart of downtown. This is the predictable result of years of pro-criminal, anti-law enforcement policies pushed by Chicago Democrats like JB Pritzker, Brandon Johnson and Kim Foxx, and backed by Democratic U.S. Senate candidates Juliana Stratton, Raja Krishnamoorthi and Robin Kelly,” Tracy said.

“When crime goes unchecked, violence escalates. As your next U.S. Senator, I’ll work to make our communities safe by bringing federal and local law enforcement to the table together to pursue common sense solutions to the crime epidemic. Public safety should be a given in every neighborhood.”

Don is available for video and phone interviews on this topic, with some availability for in-studio discussions.
